THOMASTON, CT —On Monday, Chris Murphy (D-CT) continued his Getting to Work Tour at Ward Leonard Electric Company, where he met with business leaders and employees to discuss ways that the U.S. Senatorial candidate can help spur job creation. This was the fourth stop on Congressman Murphy’s statewide tour, a jobs tour with a new twist. Murphy wants to work alongside employees at each stop to get their ideas and perspective on job growth and the future of Connecticut’s economy.
“It was great to hear more about the work they’re doing at Ward Leonard,” said Murphy. “It’s important to me to spend time with business owners and the people making hiring decisions, as well as with the employees on the shop floor. We’ve all seen politicians taking a top-down approach, telling business owners and workers what they need, but this tour is different. Listening has become a lost art in government—but it's what I've always done and how I've developed some of my most important legislation.
"The Ward Leonard team was honored by Chris’s visit today. We are impressed with him and his obvious commitment to ensuring the growth and sustainment of manufacturing in Connecticut,” said Chairman & CEO, Jon Carter.
Murphy will announce additional stops for the Getting to Work Tour in the coming days.
