With the sun shining and the temperature a comfortable 78 degrees, Ward Leonard employees and their families gathered at the Colonial Tavern in Oxford, CT for a company picnic on Sunday September 9th. Everyone enjoyed a fun filled day of socializing and great food – fresh off the grill. While the adults took the time to relax, the children and grandchildren took advantage of the numerous activities provided to them to enjoy.
A clown was kept busy making an array of colorful balloon animals and transforming the kids into fairies and animals with her face-painting skills. A magician kept everyone entertained and guessing, “How’d you do that?” with his sleight of hand. Others spent the afternoon splashing in the pool, playing one-on-one basketball, taking a leisurely ride in the paddle boats, and even having a dance with their loved ones – courtesy of the DJ.
The occasion ended with the highlight event: a charity raffle to help benefit the Thomaston Food Pantry. Thanks to the availability of American Express Rewards points from Ward Leonard purchases and travel arrangements, raffle prizes included an iPad 2, Kindle Fire, Pressure Washer, Razor Scooter, Keurig Coffee System, Black & Decker Lawn Care System, 24” HD TV/DVD, and gift cards from Kohl’s and Home Depot. The original goal for the fundraiser was set to $500, but thanks to the generosity of the employees and their families, Ward Leonard will be providing a $1000 donation to help the Thomaston Food Pantry this holiday season. Ward Leonard will continue to support the food pantry by collecting donations of food items from employees before the Thanksgiving holiday.
