THOMASTON, CT, August 13, 2013 — Despite the threat of rain, thunder and lightning towards the start of the outing, a total of 260 people, including Ward Leonard employees, family members and guests, made this year’s Company Picnic at Lake Compounce in Bristol, CT, a success.
With the sun appearing and warm, humid temperatures remaining, a cool splash down the Thunder Rapids ride or getting dumped under the six-foot bucket of water at the top of the pirate ship Clipper Cove, was a welcomed relief for some, and fun for both children and adults. For those who didn’t have their bathing suit and preferred to stay dry, the Boulder Dash Mountain Coaster gave a nice breeze and plenty of twists and turns for an exhilarating ride. For those more daring, the 100 foot drop on the Down Time ride was more their speed.
At the end of the afternoon, a group photo and video were taken with everyone yelling, “We are – Ward Leonard!” Quickly following the photo and video, VP of Human Resources, Sam Aconfora announced prize winners for the company raffle. Winners and prizes were: Luis Arroyo, $25, Kohl’s; Linda Bouchez, $25, Home Depot; Keith Hinckley, $25, Staples; Jim Hoyt, $50, Visa; Sam Stevenson, $50, Visa; Kimberly Cyr, $100, Visa.
With a nice ending to the event, all enjoyed delicious food and enjoyable conversation at the dinner buffet under the Pavilion. Such foods included a taco bar, BBQ chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers, kielbasa and sauerkraut and an ice cream bar.
